I am a wife and mother of six children. After receiving my BA from Crichton College in 1998, I took time to start my precious family before beginning birth work.

My motivation in becoming a midwife and monitrice began with the personal desire to serve women and to enhance my own education of birth. I grew up surrounded by a family of loving, strong women and I saw how important it is to come alongside and support one another during life-changing moments. Pregnancy, childbirth and the bonding between mother and baby are some of the most transformational times in life. I believe strongly in the power and normalcy of birth, and I find incredible joy watching this miracle unfold with each family I serve.

I am a licensed midwife with Abundant Life Midwifery serving in Tennessee and Mississippi. As a midwife, I enjoy equipping families as they walk through the pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum care in the comfort of their own home.

For my clients who choose a hospital delivery, yet desire support while laboring at home and access to the Midwifery model of care, I offer monitrice services.

My desire for each family is to serve alongside them as they choose their own birth experience. I want to equip each family with knowledge, confidence, techniques, education and support while we walk through this unique journey together.

In my free time I enjoy studying about herbs and essential oil‘s, gardening and having fun with my family.

I have always had a love for childbirth. I attended my first birth when I was just 17. After having five children of my own, and supporting many friends through their labors, I knew it was where I belonged.

I did my training with DONA in November 2010, and attended my first "official" birth in June of 2011. I attended a second training through BEST Doula training for doula and childbirth educaiton in 2019. Even after the time that has passed, and the numerous births I've attended, I still LOVE birth, and strive for a positive, fulfilling birth for every client no matter what!

I started my breastfeeding journey with a preemie who was too uncoordinated to latch.  With lots of really great support, I was able to nurse him and my subsequent children. I have been a volunteer breastfeeding counselor since 2004 and an IBCLC since 2011.  I have experienced much in breastfeeding my own children and have supported moms and babies in even more. Nursing takes a village.  :-)

I have a private practice in Olive Branch, Mississippi. I believe that every breastfeeding/chestfeeding dyad has the need for proper support, encouragement and up-to-date information. I believe that babies and those that mother them have innate wisdom in their bodies and each other. I try to facilitate that wisdom as much as possible. I do this because I want to improve the world by infusing more respect and love into it. As parents learn to love mothering, they love their children. They teach their children with respect and compassion, and this continues by making our children loving, respectful and compassionate. This all starts at the breast.

I have been accompanying birthing people in my community long before I found myself seeking certification to be a professional birth worker. My training as a birth doula and lactation counselor has only solidified my passion for supporting people during such a transformative time in their lives. I have had experience with supporting single parents, adoptions, under served families and people who find themselves unsheltered. I am excited to continue working with many diverse families to make birth the most positive experience that it can be. I love watching birthing people realize that they have options in birth and for them to move through their experience with confidence and peace.

I knew that I wanted to become a birth worker following the powerful birth of my eldest son. I had a midwife and doula and knew it was for me, despite my shiny new MSW. My twins were born via surrogacy which opened up a whole new world of birth issues and challenges.

I wasn't able to train right away but began studying and learning. I attended the first Breech Birth Conference with many giants of the field and was even more inspired. In 2015, I took my first doula course, and also joined the Sacred Roots Mentorship Program, since I wanted more support and feedback than was offered in my class. I soon opened NJ Birth Doula and worked in New Jersey for four years primarily as a birth doula in hospitals, birth centers, and home births alongside Midwives and Obstetricians. Along the way, I expanded my knowledge and offerings with postpartum training, CLC course, and much more. I was a part of several doula groups back in NJ, and very much enjoyed and needed the support and sisterhood. We moved this August to Memphis, and I changed my work name to River Birth Memphis. I continue to study and learn and I look forward to getting back into the business of supporting women and families.

I am birth and newborn photographer. I have always had a love for photographing the things I love. It was after the birth of my second child that I realized birth and newborn photography was where I was meant to be. I think every momma should have beautiful images of her little one. My goal with all the images I take is to freeze time for you. I want you to look back at the photos and feel like you did the moment it was taken. They are only little for a bit so you better capture it. I am a momma to two rowdy amazingly perfect little boys. I am a Texan and a graduate of Texas A&M University. I have a Bachelors and a Masters in Early Childhood Development and Education. I taught Kindergarten for 7 years before starting my own little family. Professionally, I am a physical therapist and became a childbirth educator and a breastfeeding peer counselor in 2001 after my unexpectedly complicated first pregnancy. Teaching childbirth preparation classes is a great joy to me. In 2017 I became an Evidence Based Birth®️ Instructor. I am also a DONA  Certified Birth Doula as of April 2019. My goal in those roles is to educate and empower expectant parents for the miraculous experience of birth and transition to parenthood.

Personally, I am a wife of more than 25 years to my patient, understanding husband and mother to two amazing children who both spent their first days in the NICU. Since my first introduction in school lessons, Ancient Greece has fascinated me, which adds to my interest in the role of the doula in our modern culture. In my free time, I enjoy reading and cross stitch.

Bonjour/Olá!/¡Holà!/Hi y’all!

My journey to birthwork evolved organically as my interest in the miracle of birth merged with my
lifelong passion of empowering women. Each of the births of my children and multiple miscarriages
have taught me the beauty of creation and the strength inherent in women to overcome anything.
I am a DONA trained birth doula, postpartum doula, breastfeeding consultant, and childbirth educator. I
attended my first homebirth as a doula while our family lived in Europe. From the first massage I offered
a laboring mother, I was hooked! Since moving to Memphis in 2017, I have pursued formal training as a
birth doula and I am continuing to learn better ways to serve my fellow women.

Traveling and immersing myself in other cultures enriches my life immensely. I have a B.S. in Geography
and have lived in France, Portugal, and Scotland. Learning Portuguese, French and Spanish has helped
fulfill my heart’s strongest desire— connecting and sharing with women around the world. From
working as an EMT to teaching women’s fitness classes overseas to being a language tutor, I have
learned that a woman’s capability exceeds our imagination!

I am the mother of three outstanding children and the wife of my accountant and triathlete husband.
Our family has lived in many places and we are thrilled to be settling long-term here in Memphis.

I have been working with moms and families for over 4 years and have served over 100 families in that time; moms and babies are pretty much my favorite things ever. I received my Masters Degree from the University of Tennessee College of Social Work in Memphis and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Southern Maine. I have completed Maternal Mental Health training with Postpartum Support International and the Postpartum Stress Center. My therapeutic practices focus on the needs of moms during the stressful years of pregnancy, newborns, infancy and toddlerhood. I support moms that confront symptoms of Perinatal Mood Disorders. Additionally, I offer counseling to moms: grieving the loss of an infant or pregnancy, struggling with a transition to life with a new baby, dealing with relationship issues, or confronting the feelings of isolation and loneliness that can accompany new motherhood. I believe that supporting a mom to be her best self makes the entire family stronger.

In addition to serving moms, I am an adjunct faculty member at the University of Memphis Department of Social Work. I like to create (and sell) stained glass art and various tie-dyed goodies. I am a mother of two brilliant, fantastic, and exhausting children. I also have two dogs, am a terrible gardener and am looking forward to bringing home new chickens this spring!

I'm a Birth Doula and Photographer. About 6 years ago in 2014, I slowly made my way into this beautiful world of birth by working as a photographer.  After my daughter's birth, I knew that I deeply wanted to be more involved in the birth community and support parents in every way I could while they brought their sweet blessings into the world.

I'm currently working towards my DONA Birth Doula certification and also attended several other trainings. This has set me up to serve you in the best ways possible.

Along with my passion for birth and sweet little new babies, I run a photography business with an in-home studio where I photograph newborns and wee kiddos. At home I'm a wife, momma, lover of animals, novel baker, and coffee lover.

I began the process of certifying and getting the skills I needed to inform, support and empower women to have the birth they desire! As God leads, I hope to continue working as a doula, birth educator, placenta encapsulation specialist and pursue my midwifery certification . Hello there! My name is Anna Wilson. I am a trained Doula, a Certified Lactation Counselor, and also have an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development/Education. I am CPR/First Aid Certified, and hold over 400 hours of training in various topics dealing with families, infants, and trauma. My husband and I have four beautiful children: two that grew in my belly, and two that have grown in my heart.  Before birth work, I spent my life as the owner and director of an inclusive day care center. My husband and I have been foster parents since 2013, and I partnered with DCS in the area to provide childcare for children with special needs, or behaviors. God gave me a passion for families and children and I've always felt that providing education and loving support can make a world of difference in the lives of families I was able to serve!

In 2014, I gave birth to my oldest Belly Baby and felt a sense of loss at my experience. I started my birth worker journey in the summer of 2016 after the birth of my youngest child. I became addicted to the difference that a positive birth experience can make for mothers and babies and I decided right then and there that I wanted to help these mamas from the very beginning! I did a year long mentor-ship with a certified doula and did my formal training through Galey McDougal in Nashville in March of 2017. After receiving my CLC, I started volunteering at The Desoto Family Center Clinic and provide free lactation support for women in the area.

I became a trained Midwifery Assistant in 2019.

I like to spend my free time fishing on the lake with my family, reading, listening to records, and chatting with good friends!
